Is it wrong to work on a programming project that files tax returns?

I am a programmer, and I work for a private company. I am the lead developer on a on a system that files tax returns. I believe that all taxation is theft, and that our current tax system massively violates rights. I feel like hypocrite for working on this project. Am I wrong? What should I do?

I am a programmer too.

I don't hesitate to say that it is completely moral to work on that project. You are not contributing to the violation of people's rights, but instead are helping reduce the time and stress burden of those rights violations on people who use your software. People freely pay for the software, that means that it is of value to them.

Thank you. That is the same conclusion I came too. Thanks for articulating it so well for me.

Do these questions get re-written? This doesn't read like I remember my original question. Oh well.

I do edit the questions for brevity, as well as to make them more specific or more general to make them more suitable for the show. But I don't recall doing much editing to yours. (I don't have access to the original, so I can't say for certain.)
