Should a person without other options accept welfare from the government?

I've had generalized anxiety disorder for as long as I can remember. I live in Sweden, and my government has so many labor regulations that no business can hire me, and charities don't exist to help me. Is it wrong, in such a case, to accept government assistance? I don't have any savings, and it seems like my only other options are criminal activity and suicide.

I'm not speaking for Diana here, but I had to respond to this because it sounds like a call for help. By all means, Johan, if their oppressive regulations have taken away your ability to support yourself through productive work, and you're unable to leave the country, you have the perfect right to support yourself through welfare. A better option for you, however, might be to seek a new place to live where there are programs that would support you in working for yourself and reaching your personal pinnacle. I live in the States, and my cousin has a job here despite suffering from a mental disorder. It is absolutely ludicrous that you are not allowed to work! Everyone, including you, has something to contribute to this world and should be allowed and encouraged to do so. Find a place to live that really believes in that last statement, but in the meantime, take the assistance and don't feel guilty for acting to preserve your own life. And please, please talk to someone if you are seriously considering suicide or criminal activity. The only reason it seems like there are no good alternatives is because of the limitations of the social system you're living in. Take care and be well, Johan!
