Is it wrong to be a government employee in a mixed economy?

In a free society, police officers and judges would be essential to the protection of rights. But in a mixed economy like ours, police officers and judges are required to uphold some immoral laws -- such as drug laws, antitrust laws, and environmental regulations. What's the moral status of people who work such jobs now? How do you weigh the good versus the bad that they do?

I fail to see how all environmental regulation is immoral.
Everyone wants clean drinking water, breathable air, and oceans that don't reek of formaldehyde.
It is in my best interest to have these things, what about environmental regulations seeking to ensure them is immoral?
