Should circumcision be banned?

Residents of San Francisco will soon vote on a ballot measure that would ban circumcision, except in cases of medical necessity. See: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/05/18/national/a130240D07.DTL Is circumcision of violation of the child's rights, as some people claim? Or does a ban on circumcision violate of freedom of religion and parental choice?

I actually support this ban. Freedom of religion does *not* entitle you to practice your religion on other people without their consent. Christians aren't allowed to go around shooting Wiccans because "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live". Scientologists are not allowed to lock critically ill people in a closet because they have to think themselves well. Parents should not be allowed to let their child die of a simple infection because they don't believe in antibiotics.
